Had a bit of an adventure yesterday when the furnace quit. I had to convince my mom that it was, indeed, not working. "Turn it [the thermostat] all the way down and then way up." "Nothing's happening." "Give it a second." "Trust me, nothing's happening. The fan kicks in right away." "Well what does the temperature read?" "Half what I have it turned up to." "Oh, I think I just heard it come on." "You didn't. TRUST ME." "Do you smell something?" "No." "Are you sure you don't smell anything?" "WE'RE NOT GOING TO BE GASSED TO DEATH!"

A chilly night later the furnace guy came, fixed a coupling or something, I dunno, and voila! Heat! It was a good day for it not to be working, though, because it was GORGEOUS outside, although it didn't matter because it was colder in the house than it was outside when the dude showed up.

Tomorrow we brunch! There's a hotel here (well, a couple) that does an awesome buffet brunch and I have a gift certificate so off we go!

Watching Home Alone. This and The Santa Clause are two of MY "classic" holiday movies. What are some of yours?

My mom's not feeling well, she's got a sore ear and her head was feeling pretty floaty yesterday so I'm torn between warding her off with finger crosses and licking her face so I can not go to work for a few days. Isn't that horrible? LOL Work isn't actually that bad right now, at least now that we've put a couple of our bigger holiday features to bed. We still have some things we need to work on, though, so we can't relax just yet.

My mom surprised me and put the tree up herself today. We've been having some quiet wars about the decorating of it for a few weeks now. I like "theme" trees. This year I've been determined to have a green, pink and gold tree. Mom likes coloured lights and by the time I got home added some to our white pre-lit tree. We compromised, somewhat by moving the coloured ones more into the middle. I feel SORT OF bad because it's just a Christmas tree but I have a theme, dammit. I like theme trees. Next year we can colour the shit out of it.

Only 20 days until Christmas, y'all. I can't believe it's coming so quickly! It will be here before we know it. I'm most excited to have a bazillion four day weeks coming up. This week I'm taking Friday off, then we get the 23rd off in lieu of the 25th, the 26th and the 2nd. Holy jeez.

I'm actually looking forward to January because that's when my benefits through work reset. Because of my physio I blow through my paramedical coverage in a heartbeat. I'm going to go to a chiropractor for the first time. There's this guy who's a stone's throw from the news who does this thing called TBM (Total Body Modification). My boss heard about it when she had to change chiros on account of hers getting charged, blah, blah, blah (it wasn't client-related, it was a personal matter that was dropped--neither here, nor there) and he told her that he could cure her allergies. She's got a couple wicked ones to eggs and her own sweat due to her hormones being fucked up.

This dude has cured people of celiac, peanut allergies, um... other stuff. It sounds SUPER hokey but it's totally true. My boss went last week to get "harmonized" (seriously, sounds fucking whacked) first and she was almost completely hive-free for the few days she was here before she left for Vegas for a marathon. She hasn't gone a day spot-free in years. This week she'll get officially treated for her allergies and from there she should be good to go.

AD is celiac and she's so excited to go on Wednesday to be treated. If this works she won't have to worry about avoiding so many foods! And even if she has to be treated like, once a year that's still AMAZING.

I want to go get harmonized more than anything, which is him fixing the "blown fuses" in your body. By moving your arms and legs and doing something akin to fluffing your hair he can tell if you're pre-diabetic or your ovaries don't work right or if your kidneys are okay--it's so fucking weird. Even though four people from my office have gone since last week and all reported the same things I'm still all- "Nuh uh! FUck off!"

But it's one thing to look forward to for January. And we all need a few of those, eh?

Didn't wake up feeling so hot. My throat has been hurting AGAIN but it's twentieth verse, same as the first. I don't think anything will come of it and I won't just fall apart so I can start putting myself back together again. UGH. GET SICK, ALREADY!

Visited with my aunt and uncle and played cards, which was a nice way to spend the day. I really don't feel any desire to do anything at all this weekend that involves being social with people who I have to be nice to. Not that I don't have to be nice to my family but I can show up without doing my hair, in old jeans and a t-shirt and burp and not care, you know? Going out with REAL PEOPLE means being proper.

ANYWAY. Onto more advent things!
