summer_skinFinally going to see The Runaways this weekend. It didn't get released at the main theatre so we had to wait for it to come to the small, independant one that's run by douchey people, apparently.
Started walking this week to try and get a little more strength into my muscles and get my back and body used to walking again. I have two months to try and get through the pain and get used to moving so much for New York. We're going to be walking and on our feet a lot during our trip and I DO NOT want to have to spend every other day like a crappy, achy bitch because of my back. Not that I want to spend my normal days like that, either, but I'm going to be in NYC, baby!
I might tune into the finale of Supernatural just to see what's up. I haven't watched since ... February? Maybe.
So like, the One Tree Hill promos are being advertised for the SEASON finale but is anyone getting a decidedly SERIES finale vibe from it? I'd like to see it end if only to let Sophia Bush spread her wings in another series and to allow some other show to get an edge on the crazy nanny/crazy wannabe-girlfriend/crazy familial unit market.
I am beside my motherfucking self.
I don't even know.
How about we start with the heartbreaking? Jeremy rejecting Elena. Caroline being hurt. Damon's talk with Jeremy that tore my motherfucking heart out (the second one, obvs), the moment between Damon and not!Elena, Anna being killed.
All season I was waiting for Katherine to come back. I mean, for about half the season the show was following the books to some extent but now they're going totally off course, and it's awesome. Not going to spoil the end of the first book but this shit did NOT happen. When Elena came into the kitchen and started putting the knives away I immediately knew something was going to happen but part of me thought the real Elena was going to cut off John's finger and then Stefan would come out and kill him or something. Totally unrealistic, yes, but still. It's what I kinda thought in the moments leading up to what really happened.
I just hope there's no storyline involving kidnapping Elena so Katherine can infiltrate her life and do whatever "nefarious" shit she has planned. It's nice to see her do something more blood thirsty and terrifying than just being a greedy, spoiled, snotty girl like she was in the flash backs. A greedy, spoiled, snotty vampire, but a bit of a weiner nonetheless.
I wonder if the next episode will pick up right away. Maybe Damon sensed something from the way Katherine kissed him. I can see him bursting through the door but perhaps a more viable storyline would have Elena wrongfully framed for murder. That storyline could get pretty tedious, too, though.
BUT. That's neither here nor there and second season is still about four months away (perhaps exactly, depending on when the premiere is!).
Jeremy's actions are upsetting. I know why he's doing it but still, sad. I'm not particularly upset that Anna's gone other than that Jeremy is hurt. I guess I never really truly came around to liking her, although I don't dislike her as I did at first.
I wish Alaric had been in the episode a little more, if only to have more lovely, lovely sexual tension with Damon. That Damon went to him right away to let him in on the tomb vamps' plans and Alaric was all, "saddle up" only further cements their bromance. I hope, hope, hope Matt Davis comes back next season. Is he only recurring right now? I don't even know. Glad he wasn't killed!
Mayor Lockwood's death will propel Tyler's werewolf storyline nicely. That whole thing could either make Tyler and Jeremy friends with a secret (if Jeremy becomes a vampire) or if Jeremy's plan fails it could perhaps alienate him. OR MAYBE THEY COULD HAVE AN ILLICIT AFFAIR AND TYLER COULD INFECT HIM.
Ahem.
Anyway.
I won't be sad to see Uncle John go at all. He was okay to have around for these episodes, to further the storylines, but his character would be so annoying in the long run. It was awesome to see Isobel put him in his place last week and take him down a notch. Although I suppose he could still live, depending on when Elena interrupts Katherine in the kitchen. But I expect John is a gonner and I'm okay with that. Also, he killed Anna which hurt Jeremy so that's an auto-fail for me.
Caroline has to be okay. She's been on the backburner a bit since Vicki's body was discovered (Miss Mystic episode aside) so it would suck for her to be phased out like this. Although if she died Matt would probably be super pissed at Tyler (he still could be, I suppose) and maybe the writers would introduce Meredith into the show. I had a brief thought that with Anna dying that maybe they'll bring someone else on but now that I'm thinking about it I don't know how they'd introduce her into the current storylines UNLESS Caroline died.
Bonnie.... I don't know. She creeps me out a bit since she came back from getting over her Gram's death. She redeemed herself somewhat in this episode but I'd like to see more of the story behind her motivation and more of her discovering her family history to better accept her (to the viewers) abrupt change of face when it comes to Elena and her boys. I'd also be interested in seeing a faceoff between Bonnie and Katherine since Bonnie's ancestor was Katherine's right-hand woman back in the day.
I don't even know what more to say. There's the whole Elena/Stefan/Damon triangle but that's just getting started so I don't want get all in a tizzy over it now. I want to re-watch the scene between Damon and not!Elena at the end a couple more times, read some fic over the summer and get ready for all that to explode in the middle of Katherine and werewolves and the aftermath of the death of the mayor and shit.
Wish this wasn't the end but I'm happy we got a hell of a finale!

The journal Jeremy got access to was one of many, if John is to be believed. I wonder if the original Jonathan Gilbert's journals will come into play in further seasons?
