summer_skinIt's a gorgeous day here, finally. There are menfolk on the roof, putting down new shingles and I finally have a window again. It's weird how quickly you gets used ot change without realizing it. Now that I have the window back it's a little weird but I love it. I can finally see out. I missed the leaves growing fuller on the trees over the past few weeks and it's now almost totally summer.
It is SO frustrating how long it takes for my caps to upload on a Saturday.
Saw the
I went in with low expectations and came out pleasantly entertained. Lots of explosions, pretty men and humour. It was fun.
The plot wasn't as thin as I thought it would be although I thought the romance was a bit contrived, especially since it was only for the furthering of plot. But that's fine.
One thing I will say that was a bit distracting was that during one of the final action sequences leading into the climax everything felt very computer animated. It didn't look bad, I'd say, but there's a photoshop-esque smoothness to explosions and quick movement that comes from a lot of special effects. Almost like airbrushing on a model.
But all in all I enjoyed myself and I'd even see it again because I laughed quite a bit.
I watched and capped "Vincent and the Doctor" last week but I didn't have time to sort and upload them as I was having people over. It's been a week so I won't cut my reactions to it.
LOVED IT. It was a gorgeous episode that made me cry and from the few episode reactions I saw afterwards I gather that was the general concensus from most viewers.
The story was awesome and I felt bad for the monster, as well as Van Gogh. The ending was simply wonderful and all the characters were fun and light and melancholy. The colouring on the episode was also wonderful. The graphics I've seen come out of the episode have been lovely.

Hmmm, burning paper on the Tardis. This is weird because the Doctor didn't even make a face at it, that I noticed. Also when someone spray painted the Tardis in series 1 Nine made the kid scrub it off. Hmmm.
This episode was fun. It felt a bit like those episodes from series past when the Doctor and companion aren't really in the episode very much but this one was way better than those (except for "Blink", of course). Although the monster/alien of the week was a bit lame.
Ummmmm, loved seeing the Doctor trying to be a true human. So awkward.
Other than that I one observation/question about the preview. All season we've been waiting for the info on the big reveal at the end. All the cracks in time and whatnot and this Pandorica thing or whatever it's called.
Does anyone else think that maybe what's in that big box is a new Tardis? This is a total stab in the dark and I don't know why I think this but for some reason with all the info that we've gotten, and that the Doctor pulled out a piece of a (possibly, presumably) ruined Tardis from a crack a couple episodes back, and that all of the past baddies are coming back .... I don't know. Just a shot in the dark on that one.
