JustJared is reporting that TVGuide estimates 3.22 million people watched SPN last night--the highest ratings of the season! The blog is also speculating that a fourth season seems likely! The post with a spoilery image from last night's episode is here. I didn't go into the comments so I don't know if there are any spoilers in there, either. I was scared off by the atrocious grammar and spelling.

I think we're all pretty confident we're getting a fourth season anyway, eh? I haven't seen any posts or anything of that nature calling to arms for support. Let's face it- the CW doesn't really have the luxury of getting rid of any more shows next season, either. *rolls eyes at Dawn Ostroff*

ALSO! EXTENDED SEX AND THE CITY TRAILER! Don't hover on the link, even, if you want to stay spoiler-free for it.

Can anyone tell me what the song used in the trailer is? I tried yahooing some of the lyrics but came up with nothing.

CW Exec Says Network Still Supports 'Supernatural'
Wednesday, January 23, 2008

When the CW announced its new midseason schedule, the fact that Supernatural reruns were nowhere to be found caused an uproar in the fan community. Fans of the series saw this as being yet another setback for the Winchester boys, which was especially painful since the show is already in a terrible time slot and gets little promotion. The good news is that the outcry from the fans did not go unheard. The CW's network communications executive, Paul McGuire, recently sent an e-mail to About.com where he emphatically stated that the network still stands behind Supernatural.

"The CW is very supportive of Supernatural and continues to be," McGuire stated. "The show continues to deliver strong episodes viewers like yourself have embraced. The move to air encores of Reaper Thursdays at 9 is an attempt to get sampling for that show, which is in its first season, unlike Supernatural, which is a proven veteran."

While it's nice to hear a CW executive refer to Supernatural as a "proven veteran," it still doesn't seem particularly supportive for the network to completely remove the show from the schedule. If they wanted to temporarily move it in order to give new Reaper episodes more exposure, that'd be fine. However, the least they could have done is schedule some Supernatural reruns for another night. I'd recommend Wednesdays at 9pm, which is when encore episodes of Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious will be airing. We don't even need that airing once a week, much less twice.

For fans who are worried that Reaper might become a breakout hit in the time slot and further bury Supernatural, I wouldn't be concerned. Reaper currently averages about 500,000 fewer viewers, and despite the CW's hopes, isn't likely to gain more while it's up against new episodes of Lost on ABC. If the CW really wants to show their support for the Winchesters, they'll bring Supernatural back to the schedule as soon as possible.

You can also enter to win an autographed t-shirt signed by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in BuddyTV's Supernatural giveaway. Start by visiting this thread in our forum and letting us know your favorite episode of Supernatural. Then all you have to do is click here to take our TV trivia quiz. The person who scores the highest number of points in the trivia quiz between now and 9pm on January 31 will win the prize.

Want to create a promo for Supernatural?

Does everyone remember that contest from last year that offered people the chance to have a promo on the air for Supernatural? It's back this year! I can't remember if last year it was ALL CW shows or JUST SPN but this year it's for THREE shows: SPN, Gossip Girl and Smallville. I'm surprised Reaper isn't on there, but whatevs.

If you create the winning promo you get it aired on TV, CWTV and you get an internship at the CW. AND the love and devotion of thousands of fangirls who will love you forever and ever, amen.

Details under the cut for how to enter )

The website with the details also has the clips that you're allowed to use in your video.

I don't know who all entered last year or if anyone from fandom even attempted but this fandom has a metric buttload of talent. Not just that, but it would be just one more way for the fans to show how much we want our show back. Every little bit counts!

First off- [livejournal.com profile] spn_freshblood passed along the CW's contact number. By now most people have heard that after the new Supernatural episodes will air they're taking it off the schedule (not permanently!) to make way for Reaper reruns after Smallville. While that's fine and dandy, and a nice attempt to get new viewers, it's a little maddening to see them NOT do the same for SPN.

I called between 5-6pm-ish Jan 7th and someone was at the switchboard to direct my call to the ... something line. Viewer's... something? I forget. While I wasn't able to talk to anyone directly I WAS able to leave a message that will reportedly be listened to, transcribed and passed on to the people in charge. I left a very polite, positive message explaining that I was calling from Canada, I loved the show and I would really, REALLY like to see reruns continue to air since Reaper is being given that opportunity. I didn't leave my phone number but I might call back later in the week and try to get someone on the phone, just to be able to relay my concerns and hopes in person. The original post is here at [livejournal.com profile] spn_freshblood and explains where the number came from and someone else's (positive) experience calling.

The number is 1-818-977-2500 if you want to call and leave a short, upbeat and--above all--polite and respectful message. This isn't just about getting the show in reruns after the new episodes are done, this is also about showing how much we love the show and want it locked into place on the schedule for the future (however that will play out). From the account at the post I linked from [livejournal.com profile] spn_freshblood the woman from CW who called the fan back was surprised at how eager fans were to see the show in reruns, how dedicated the fanbase was. That's really sad and just another reason to call and get your voice out there in support of the show.

Secondly, I has caps! SPN 3.08 caps will be coming soon, I hope, but my internet is slooooooooow right now and it's like pulling teeth to ul/dl. So, in the meantime, have some Gossip Girl caps. Once I can get my hands on the rest of the eps I'll be capping those ones, too.

* Uploaded to my own personal site.
* Comment and CREDIT if taking/using.

Eeee! [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang is almost ready to kick off for round 2! I have a few ideas that I need to work out but I'm going to give my all to get it done again this year! :D But it WON'T be another monster like last year! I also signed up for [livejournal.com profile] abouttwoboys, [livejournal.com profile] dontbendthatway, [livejournal.com profile] spn_apocasmut and my Sweet Charity fic #2 to worry about. I think the death!ficathon and the picture prompt challenge might be delayed a little bit, maybe until next month. By then the deadline can be into March and we can get these other things out of the way. The death!ficathon will likely be first, since that one was voted to be first, and then it'll hopefully free up more time later in the winter for people to do the picture prompt challenge. I was thinking of signing up for a Gossip Girl fic exchange, too, but I don't know... *marge simpson grumble*

I made a lot of progress on the fanmix meme from before Christmas! These things are turning into real fanmixes!

I checked Walmart for a calendar today and they were still 8$. To hell with that, I'll wait until they're cheaper, thanks.

Oh, show(s)

Even if you're waiting to see the s3 premiere tonight live please consider dling a copy from Itunes just so the number reflect how many fans love this show. You don't have to watch it or have it ruin the experience of watching it live but it's a good way to support the show. Give it a moment of thought.

I HAVE seen it with the help of a Fcuker because I won't get to see it tonight but I'm going to wait to post my reactions and thinky review thing with caps, whenever I finally get the damn thing dled. I'll just say I liked it. Can anyone direct me to the episode 1 promo stills?

As for other shows I've watched recently I liked Pushing Daisies but I don't know if I see it lasting. It was cute and colourful but I don't know if that'll translate in the long-term. I LOVED Aliens in America and have since I dled the screener months ago. I thought Scott Patterson as the replacement dad might have been weird but I think it worked out alright. Still a little odd, though.

Gossip Girls is picking up steam for me. I really liked the last episode but I don't have much to say about WHY I liked it. It's not as colourful as I thought it would be (film-wise). Reaper didn't do anything for me this week and I don't know how much longer I'll tune in. Another episode, maybe. It's not as quick, not as witty, not as hook-y as I thought it would be. I watched America's Next Top Model last night and loved it, as usual. I think I'm rooting for Sali... Salicia? Whatever her name is. I like her. And someone else, but I don't remember who.

I've dled the Bionic Woman episode from last night but haven't watched it yet. I was surprised when I liked it last week so I'll give it another couple tries, see where it goes.

At least with me not able to watch SPN I can watch The Office!

AND OH OH! Did anyone else hear of the possibilities of a Serenity sequel?! HERE!

Expect a post on the Wincon filter later and possibly some caps.

I finally bit the bullet and made myself a new header and changed up the layout colours and stuff. I made the icon first and then went back a day layer and made a banner in the same style. I really like the way it turned out. I desperately want to find out a new look for my tags, though. I'd like the actual tags page to be in a list now, instead of a cloud, and I think I'd like a non-scroll list for the box. The tags are fucked up in the box the way it is now.

Check it out! [livejournal.com profile] marishna

ANYWAY. There is some kinda bad news (for me) here, too. I checked the tv guide when it came with the paper today and I searched all through the Thursday listings and guess the fuck what? NO SPN HERE ON THURSDAY. :| :| :|

I KNOW, RIGHT?!

It DOES air on the channels here but not until Tuesday on Space and I don't even know when on the City channel. Does City even carry it any more? Either way, I'm beyond irritated. I used to be able to watch it on satellite and get the feed from the channels in the east so I'd see it first with everyone else and then about three more times through the night and then three or four more times after that throughout the week.

To make things even worse the internet here is still BEYOND shitty so I don't even know how fast I'll be able to dl the damn episode. I probably won't even get to see it until Friday or something. The tech guy was back again today and said they would be inspecting the equipment outside the residences to figure out why the speeds are so slow over the next week, so there's something. Maybe they'll have it fixed by Thursday. *crosses fingers* Or there will be so many people partying or already gone for Thanksgiving weekend next week that the internet will work really well.

Don't think I haven't thought about calling the cable company and getting digital and paying for it. :| How do other people deal with this?

Wincon in less than two weeks! I'm sick right now which sucks but at least it means I won't get sick for THAT weekend. So I'll contend with being a sneezing, snotty, coughing fool right now if it means being better for two weeks from now!
summer_skin: (SPN- (2x14) Evil wears a button down)
I should SO BE IN BED right now. I have to be up in less than four hours now for work but I just posted my [livejournal.com profile] spn_heraea fic and then refreshed my flist one more time (that's always the way, isn't it?) and saw this post by [livejournal.com profile] winterlive that finally made sense to me in all this spoiler talk.

I know I made a joke just a few weeks ago about ducking and covering from s3 spoilers and some people were curious as to whether there were any yet and I basically said, "Not yet, but they're coming." And lo, then there were spoilers.

But fer the love a christ, people! We're not even ONE MONTH from the s2 finale. We're MORE THAN one month until they start filming. Until Jared and Jensen even SET FOOT in Vancouver again (well, Jared's movie notwithstanding- is he still filming?). I don't know what the spoiler is. I don't WANT to know what the spoiler is (And please don't hint at it or say I'd want to know or what I'd do if I DID know). Because I see all the reaction from everyone, all the hate and all the "mehs" and my mind goes places. I think things and get everything all worked up in my head and then I break and go looking for the damn thing and it's NEVER AS BAD AS I THINK. Or as good or WHATEVER.

Sit back, take a break, have a fruity drink with an umbrella in it. I'll be the first to say that I've been burned in the past with cerain shows and trusting in their creators. I went into s2 of SPN with that attitude. And look at what we got- one of the best seasons of television I've ever seen. I fell in love with Kripke this past season and the boys (Jared and Jensen AND Sam and Dean) even more because they're so dedicated to the show and the work they bring to us every week.

Can't we all take a break for just a week or two to settle, enjoy the summer, enjoy each other and read some BigBang? Read some schmoop vs angst fic? Read some tentacle porn? ANYTHING OTHER THAN FREAKING OUT ABOUT SOMETHING WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER. Seriously, let Kripke do his job. You don't like the way the show is SEEMING to be going right now? (There's still OVER A MONTH, PEOPLE) I don't like the bus runs late sometimes or that the wind knocks out my electricity or that I sometimes have to wait on people who smell like kitty litter tray amonia and old cheese! But I have NO CONTROL over any of that. Please, just let Kripke do his job and don't jump on his balls as soon as there's a whif of something that for the first couple episodes or just one episode or a half an episode or thirty seconds doesn't seem cool.

I know what we can do! Talk about Jim Beaver's interview (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kayim for the heads up) and how adorable he is! I love that he calls Jared and Jensen "the JJ's". ALSO ALSO! From the sounds of it, filming starts July 16th, which makes sense as that's a Monday AND AND AND! MY BIRTHDAY! *wibble!foams* *smooshes on Jim Beaver* Maybe we'll get some Bobby backstory this season?

*puts on "Spoiler Free for Season Three" tinhat and sits in bubble with a good book and a bottle of tequila*

Does anyone else who was spoiler-free for Supernatural or tried as hard as they could to stay spoiler free find themselves still recoiling in horror over the word spoilers or treading lightly into areas where there could be spoilers? I KNOW I can't get spoiled now and everything's out in the open but it's like I'm paranoid I'll be retroactively spoiled or something!

I still haven't even sought out all the stuff that I skipped when I was avoiding it all- like the coffee time interview and all the other articles and clips and everything. :| :| I think I might be more paranoid now then I was when the show was still airing new episodes, as if someone's going to slip in spoilers for season 3 when I'm not looking or something.

Oh, SHOW. This is what you do to me.

I am loving that more people are starting to it's still a spoiler for a week, right? )

Also, hello to new friends! *waves* And I'll be posting caps later today, as well. I love holiday Mondays!

So which lucky duck gets her birthday on Supernatural finale AND Upfronts day?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [livejournal.com profile] tvm!!!

Ginger, I'd love to do something for you with fic or icons. You pick and I'll try to whip something up before the end of the year, mmkay? Seriously, though. Name what you want and I WILL do it. Just maybe not today, and maybe not tomorrow. BUT I WILL!

Also, official confirmation has come down the pipe and all is right with the world once more. We'll go through all this renewal bullshit next year and worry about getting picked up again but unless Sam and Dean turn into the Jetsons and the show is narrated by David Suzuki or something I think we'll be fine. MAKE IT STAY FINE, KRIPKE!

I'm also not that upset over staying on Thursdays. I was more worried when there was rumour of Reaper getting paired up with Smallville for the season. I've ALWAYS thought it would make sense to put Reaper with something else to get an audience, then next season when Smallville gets canceled, pair it up with SPN and re-invigorate their sci-fi night. I think our biggest competitors next season will be from NBC. GA and CSI are both losing some of their momentum. CSI to GA and now GA to being... GA (this could be my own hatred for the show influencing my thoughts here, but it IS losing credibility). SPN, despite the low numbers and lack of publicity (HI, CW- I'M LOOKIN' AT YOU ON THIS ONE), has KEPT those numbers consistently. There was a slight dip earlier in the season but for the most part we've keep sailing steady and we ARE getting more exposure. And if, somehow, by some strange twist of fate, Jensen gets nominated for an Emmy (I know, I know! Stop laughing at me! I can think about it!)- WOW. That would be a HUGE boost.

Is there any way we can use his candidacy for nomination to publicise the show? Comms like [livejournal.com profile] promote_spn and "Lj comm="spn_postcards"> can't only be utilised during pilot/renewal season. We have to spread the word of the show throughout the summer, especially, when people can catch up with it, and throughout the whole season.

And now, with 3.5 hours left (*wibble!foam*), I'm going to shower and continue working on the newsletter and enjoy this GORGEOUS day we're having here. *rolls around in glee and love*

[livejournal.com profile] dorkdance: Kristin will turn a blind eye because she LOVES the show.
[livejournal.com profile] marishna: I posted a comment to Kristen's feedback thing but I hear she doesn't care.
[livejournal.com profile] marishna: she just loves it cause they all lick her twat over there,.
[livejournal.com profile] dorkdance: lmao
[livejournal.com profile] dorkdance: I don't want to know what's crawling around in there. Maybe I'll refrain from licking.
[livejournal.com profile] marishna: oh, you're not on or involved with VM. She doesn't want your dirty tongue in her gorgeous, pristine VM-lovin' twat.

And that's what I think of that whole situation. Words cannot express how bad a taste I have in my mouth right now and it's not only over the VM fans doing this bullshit. As a result I've heard OTH AND SPN fans are trying to employ this method. For the love of all that is holy people, PLEASE take a step back. A) I love this show to death but it's just a TV show and b) don't stoop to that level. We have other, classier and way more fun ways of getting our show publicity.
