I have such a love/hate relationship with Twilight. When I first read the start of the series I was all over it. It was like I was 14 again. And that's who it's aimed at, so you know.
Then the rest of the books came and I was thinking, well, okay. I'll keep going and see what happens. By the last book I was gritting my teeth and saying, OKAY S.MEY. TIME TO MAN UP. DON'T MAKE ME REGRET THE TIME I SPENT READING THE FIRST THREE, MMKAY?
I'll buy the movie because I love to hate it and it has Sparklepires in it. I had an awesome time watching it in the theatre with my bffs. I've already made plans to attend New Moon when it comes out and I'm watching the casting news and prep work for the next two spans of filming because goddamn is the Twifandom fun.
pipry32 YOU HAVE TO KEEP WATCH ON WHAT'S GOING DOWN OVER THERE!
The RPF is fun to write, too. RPatzz and Kstew pretty much write it themselves and probably feel deep shame over that. More ammunition!
But finally. FINALLY. Someone has come out and said what a fuckload of people have been waiting for. Thank you, Stephen King.

Date: 2009-02-04 01:35 am (UTC)What is it about vampire series? They usually start out awesome, and then somehow get way too weird/overblown/big for their own boots.
Case in point: Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series, and (of course), Anne freakin' Rice. *SIGH*

Date: 2009-02-04 01:40 am (UTC)super whorespiritual leaders/pard whateverthefuck I punched my card for the end of the shift.Twilight started out bad but it had enough triggers for me to remember what it was like to be in love with a dreamy guy that I didn't care. Now it's both amazing and frustrating to see everyone else fall in love with it now that the movie's out. Someone in my office started reading the first book and I could barely stop myself from telling her to run. Which I don't want to do because I don't want to ruin it for other people, if they truly like it, but if they do and think it's GOOD... I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT'S THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS!
I'm like Edward, torn between Bella and being PROPER. *sparkle!emo*

Date: 2009-02-04 08:50 am (UTC)It pisses me off that teenage girls think Twilight is the be-all, end-all. Because they never read stuff by authors like Stephen King or Patricia Cornwell or Terry Pratchett or Neil Gaiman or Tamora Pierce or even JK Rowling.
In short: GO STEPHEN KING.

Date: 2009-02-04 12:32 pm (UTC)To be honest though, I really, really enjoyed Twilight. Sure there were moments that I thought WTF? but there was enough to get me through. However, I despise the rest of the series. I wanted to throw the books out of the bus window more times than I can count. I got through, but I will never read them again.

Date: 2009-02-04 12:37 pm (UTC)And then, last fall, people at my uni went all crazy over the books, and it is so depressing to see otherwise intelligent people falling over themselves because of these books. All four of them. Including Breaking Dawn. I can't describe how incredibly disappointed in humanity I felt that day. Because on the Internet, you can lie to yourself and think they're trolls, but in real life? D:
I'm not in the fandom, really, but I totally ship KStew/NReed. It's like RPattz has somehow lost his appeal in the midst of all that fangirling. Sigh. I miss Cedric.
